Italian Ship "Italia" - Relative to Mortality of Chinese Passengers on board
Sir,
Hong Kong, 23 January
Yesterday at 3 o'clock p.m. I visited
the Italian Ship "Italia" from "Corona, having Chinese passengers
on board.
I deem it proper to acquaint you with
the fearful mortality which has occurred on board that vessel during
the voyage.
The "Italia" left Havana on
the 7th July 1868, with 150 Chinese passengers, who are reported to have been tolerably healthy on leaving
